Peter Willis selects to control Papatoetoe vs. Waitakerie for his twelve years of service

Peter has officiated over 150 games of premier rugby, a feat that does not occur very often. Peter will bring his celebrate 12 years as a premier referee this Saturday controlling the premier fixture of Papatoetoe vs, Waitakerie.

Peter has also served as the first year panel tutor along with Paul Van Etten and did a stunning job and had a huge effect on our new referees.

Robert Parkes head of the premier group had this to say regarding Peter:

“Pete has been a regular feature of Premier Rugby in Auckland for well over a decade and has epitomised the spirit of community rugby.

His role as a mentor to our new referees and larger than life persona have made Pete a huge part of our association.

An eloquent speaker with a lively sense of humour, Pete enjoys the off field moments as much as the on field. It is rare to see such longevity in Premier Referees and we thank Pete for his service to the Premier Referee Squad and wish him continued enjoyment in his refereeing, post Premier Rugby.”

Smudge McNeilage Match Official Manager said the following:

“Peter has been an incredible Warrior over 12 long years. This is testament to an extremely focused & committed guy who has always given his best. It has been a pleasure to have Pete as an interracial member on the field however his off field work, with 1st year referees, has also been an incredible asset to our Association. Good luck Pete & enjoy your Premier game on Saturday. “

Well done to Pete on his mammoth achievement and we look forward to him continuing to be involved with the Prem group for the remainder of the season.
