Referee Courses
Full Affiliated
Referee
Venue: College Rifles RFC, Haast St., Remuera
Time & Duration: 7.00pm for 1 hour on Monday evenings.
Dates: 5 March 2011 through to 20 August 2012
Purpose: Training programmes for all levels from 1st Year
through to Premier Referees.
Topics: All topics associated with refereeing rugby.
Associate Referee
Venue: Auckland Supporters Club, ASB Stand, Walters Rd., Eden
Park
Time & Duration: 6.00pm for 2 ½ hours on Thursday
evenings
Dates: Six separate courses - 12 April, 19 April, 26 April,
3 May, 17 May 2012
Purpose: Introduction to refereeing to enable participants
to referee lower grade games.
Topics: Briefly covers referees all areas of the game and
presents the ACC RugbySmart, a requirement for people to complete
wishing to referee in New Zealand.
You Make the Call
Venue: Auckland Supporters Club, ASB Stand, Walters Rd., Eden
Park
Time & Duration: 9.00am - 3.00pm for 3 days and field
assessments
Dates: Two separate courses - 1-3 May and 8-10 May 2012
Purpose: Introduction of secondary students to rugby refereeing
at junior level.
Topics: 15 modules covering all areas of the game, including
injury prevention and pre-competition preparation finishing
with practical on-field assessments.
Physical Training Sessions
These take place on Wednesdays' at College Rifles RFC from
6-7pm starting from the 7 March 2012. These are conducted
under the guidance of our qualified physical conditioning
and strength trainer. If the venue is changed the referees
are notified by e-mail.
All our referees are asked to monitor their physical fitness
throughout the season. We run a monitoring sessions once a
month on a Wednesday evening. The dates of the sessions are
- 14 March, 18 April, 16 May, 13 June and 18 July.
The two exercises that are conducted are the Yoyo and 40
metre standing sprint. Guidelines for these exercises are
based on the physical condition of the referee and the level
that the individual referees.
