Ben is one of just four New Zealand officials that have made the list, alongside Mike Fraser, Chris Pollock and Glen Jackson. In total World Rugby has selected 12 referees, 7 assistant referees and 4 TMOs for the event.

Since being announced as Auckland Rugby Club Referee of the Year in 2009, Ben has gone on to officiate as Television Match Official at some very important matches around the world. Most recently, European rugby fans would have heard his voice as TMO when he officiated both the England v Scotland and England v France RBS 6 Nations matches. He also officiated at the 2014 Junior World Championships held in New Zealand.

“We’re delighted that Ben can once again represent Auckland Rugby Referees on the world stage” said Match Officials Manager, Smudge McNeilage.

Ben has been one of our top performing officials and is a regular appointee to Super Rugby matches. It is a testament to his consistency and his commitment to the role that he has been selected to World Rugby’s biggest stage.

The Rugby World Cup kicks off 18 September 2015 with England v Fiji at Twickenham, the home of England Rugby. Game appointments will be made closer to the event. More details are available at World Rugby.
